i should point out that the afghan leader will be meeting with president obama in washington in early january. denver is 7, we understand. what do you make of that pending visit and what that conversation will? --will be like?nuary 7 guest: it will be about the remaining forces and what rules will govern incarceration policies for insurgents that have been captured and i'm sure there are a number of other things on the agenda. but those are the primary things they will discuss. host: back to your trouavels, what our soldiers telling you about the war effort from their perspective in afghanistan? guest: i am finding extraordinary courage on the part of the soldiers. it is quite an amazing experience to be embedded with them. i hear a lot of cynical soldiers, dispirited soldiers who talk about how we are trying prop up one of the most corrupt governments on the planet. afghanistan typically ranks number two or number three as most corrupt in the world. it is no. 6 on the failed states list. the soldiers are very aware of this. there is what is called the ground reality. uth on the groun
